About us:
I would like to tell you a little bit about why we do what we do and why it is so important to us.
Earlier this year I suffered a serious medical crisis and was hospitalised due to having an unknown (at the time) but progressing neurological disease that left me hospitalised, upon leaving the hospital I found life had suddenly changed quite drastically, now in need of many permanent mobility aids and equipment I was determined to find something to suit me that I felt reflected my interests, taste and personality, not something that looks medical and clinical and made of solid grey plastic... this is where a big problem made it's self known to me.
Mobility equipment costs too much!
I know, I know, this was common knowledge to so many before me and something admitadedly my wife and I had noticed with having a child with additional needs, unbeknown to us this was a huge problem deep routed in all areas, having searched high and low I soon realised two things, number one being that a lot of people in need of these things can not afford them because of the industries need to line their pockets at the expense of what feels like a 'tax on the vulnerable and disabled'.
Secondly, the shocking lack of real options for real people that would like to own their disability, I myself wanted to rock my electric wheel chair with colour and confidence, after some prototyping and costing I soon realised I could make this a real option for those like me who need a good value product of great quality and a dash personalisation.
Draycot Design Studios was born off of the back of something bad and we are determined to turn it into something good for the disabled community, Because we all deserve to be seen, to be heard and to ultimately feel good about who we are.
